ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — Held Tuesday, Nov. 5 at this year's LCT East show at the Hard Rock Hotel, attendees will get to join LCT Publisher Sara Eastwood-Richardson as she moderates a fiery session filled with burning questions top of mind for every operator.

This panel will be set in an open forum to discuss the way transportation is being transformed by disruption and where the new opportunities lie – how to stay relevant, grow, and prosper in the new age of mobility (including micro-mobility).

One of the panel guests will be Matt Daus, who serves as Transportation Technology Chair at the City University of New York’s (CUNY) Transportation Research Center of The City College of New York, where he conducts research and continues to be extensively published as an expert on ground transportation regulation and technology.

As a CUNY Distinguished Lecturer for the past nine years, he taught courses on transportation history, policy, sustainability, for-hire regulation, and technology. Daus also continues to serve for the past 10 years as president of the International Association of Transportation Regulators (IATR), a non-profit educational and advocacy peer group of government transportation regulators from around the world promoting best regulatory and innovative practice.

Commissioner Daus is the longest-serving chairman of the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC), serving for 8 ½ years. Before his tenure as Commissioner, Daus served in executive and other positions in NYC government for almost 20 years at several agencies including as general counsel to the TLC and the NYC Community Development Agency, as special counsel to the TLC and NYC Trade Waste Commission, as a NYC human rights prosecutor, and as commissioner of the NYC Civil Service Commission. Daus is a partner and chairs the Transportation Practice Group at Windels Marx Lane & Mittendorf, LLP.

Eastwood-Richardson plans to tap into Daus’ wealth of experience to help clarify some of the confusing aspects of transportation wreaking havoc on chauffeured travel. He is not only an expert in transportation law, but is deeply entrenched in the NY and surrounding markets. He will bring attendees up to speed with the latest laws and regulations impacting transportation – everything from data security to insurance to new challenges facing cities. Daus has served as co-chair to the Legal Forum on Autonomous Vehicles as well. He will weigh in on the future of “smart” cities and how electric, autonomous, and last-mile mobility is changing everything.
