An article published by the insider business travel outlet, The Company Dime, reports that new Global Business Travel Association executive director Scott Solombrino may "ruffle some feathers" for his history of strident political comments and "penchant for coarse quotes."

The article states: "Solombrino has served on GBTA's board and as president of its Allied Leadership Council for two decades. He collected more than a few critics along the way. Not everyone appreciates his frank attitude and penchant for coarse quotes."

Solombrino, the recently retired CEO of Dav El/BostonCoach Chauffeured Transportation Network and a longtime board director and past president of the National Limousine Association, has become widely known for a similar pattern of public remarks during his four decades of leadership roles in the luxury ground transportation industry. Solombrino made many of his comments in the context of humorous quips, rejoinders, and anecdotes used to entertain and regale mostly friendly audiences at industry events and forums.

In the Company Dime article, Solombrino said, "I don't get to take my opinions on every topic with me. From my perspective, every member is equally valued." He further stated, "I'm in a different role now. I work for every buyer and supplier. I'm their representative. Anything people have interacted with me on my past business life has to stay in the past. I know there will be some doubters. Give me a chance to prove that I can pivot and make an adjustment, that I can move from a business leader to an employee and representative."

Solombrino also addresses his selection for the post and his views of GBTA and business travel issues in the article.
