ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — No matter what show theme you give to dealer David Bastian, he always puts Lincoln luxury fleet vehicles into the starting roles.

For the fifth International LCT Show in a row, Bastian, commercial sales manager at Towne Livery, has put together a themed promotional video promoting Lincoln vehicles and the Show. This year, he took the “Dream Big” theme and created a circus.

“We wanted to tie in to the circus theme of the Show,” Bastian said. “This promotes the vehicles and the event like an old-time commercial for the circus. It’s the same kind of idea as advertising the circus on TV.”

The video, shot March 10 at WNED-TV public access studios in Buffalo, features circus characters prancing and playing in a ring alternately displaying the Lincoln Navigator, Lincoln Continental, and Lincoln MKT Town Car. The video was scripted, directed, and shot by Peter McGennis, owner and director of Galora Productions, which also created the previous Towne Livery show promotional videos. The music is set to "Entrance of the Gladiators."

“We focused on the Lincoln luxury line-up that’s ‘King of them All,’” Bastian said. “We first featured the Navigator and chose a white one because it’s like a ‘white elephant.’”

Bastian likes to cast friends and fellow employees in his videos. Playing the role of circus ringmaster, Bastian is joined by Towne general manager Tony McCarthy as the tiger tamer, Norm Liss as the strongman, McGennis in elephant and tiger costumes, Towne employee Jim Guzzino as the tightrope walker under the hood, Bill Easton as the popcorn eater, Bastian’s brother, Mark Bastian, as a cameo hobo clown, and Derek Sadlocha as a cameo colorful clown.

Compared to previous videos, the set required a high level of detail to recreate a circus scene. Bastian found a long list of props and equipment at local stores to cobble together the circus backdrop. He bought the straw from a tractor supply store, a hoola-hoop from Walmart, PVC piping, lawn edging, and other props from Home Depot, and confetti from Party City. He even found a stool in an antique shop that he painted red along with the lawn edging. The circus outfits were provided by DC Theatriks, a Buffalo wardrobe and constume supplier.

“A lot of stuff goes into planning for one of these videos,” Bastian said. “There’s a lot of creative conversation and back and forth to stores to buy things. This video forced me to put a lot of thought into it the creativity.”

Bastian and Towne Livery will be exhibiting at Booth No. 538 on the show floor March 25-27 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. Appropriately enough, their slogan this year is “Clown Around With Towne.”
