Karla Niedan-Streeks with the Gering Visitors Bureau was on the road recently to showcase the area’s scenic beauty and history.

The American Bus Association stages its annual marketplace at sites around the country, and the 2019 edition was in Louisville, Kentucky.

“The event brings together about 3,500 motor coach tour operators from across North America with tourism industry professionals,” Niedan-Streeks said. “It fosters conversations for operators to determine what might work for their future tour itineraries.”

All meetings are by appointment. Niedan-Streeks said the best ones are when both motorcoach operators and destination site representatives request to meet with each other. For its first time at the marketplace, Gering had a surprising nine of those mutual appointments.
