NLA Pamela Anderson PSA Wins Digital Video Award

The National Limousine Association and its public relations firm Evins learned Jan. 15 they won an AVA Digital Award for last year's public service announcement, The Closer, starring the actress and model Pamela Anderson.

The two-minute video won the Platinum Award for in the Production/Commercials/PSA category. AVA Digital Awards is an international competition that recognizes excellence by creative professionals responsible for the planning, concept, direction, design, and production of digital communication. Work includes digital campaigns, audio and video production, website development, social media engagement, and mobile marketing.

There are 227 categories in a broad range under Digital Marketing, Web/Television/Video/Audio Communication and Electronic/Social/Interactive Media, according to the AVA Awards website. The fee for entry is $110 or $175 for campaigns, but there is no charge for entries produced pro bono for outside nonprofits. There is no preset number of winners in a category. Entries receiving scores between 90-100 points are Platinum Winners. Entries with 80-89 points are Gold Winners. Entries scoring from 70-79 receive an Honorable Mention certificate.

“We are honored to receive the Platinum Award from the AVA Digital Awards for our 2018 PSA, ‘The Closer'," NLA President Gary Buffo said in a statement."This award is further validation and demonstrates support for the association’s position that Transportation Network Company drivers are employees, and should be afforded healthcare, workman’s comp and all of the benefits that employees of traditional ground transportation companies (e.g. taxi, black car, tour charters) receive. We will continue to fight for the rights of these hardworking men and women, who are systematically exploited by ride-hailing companies, and we appreciate this high recognition of our efforts.”

As of Jan. 15, "The Closer" had 31,085 views on YouTube. The video is the fourth PSA in the NLA's Ride Responsibly campaign designed to inform the traveling public of the safety risks in using transportation network companies (TNCs) such as Uber.
