NEW BRITAIN, Conn. -- DATTCO, Inc., one of Connecticut’s largest passenger transportation companies, has received the prestigious International Motorcoach Group’s (IMG) Safety Award. The annual IMG Safety Award is presented to the company that has demonstrated the highest level of safety throughout its business.

Nominees for the Safety Award are chosen by IMG shareholders, based on a thorough review of DOT, Insurance, and FMCSA records. Winners not only meet maximum federal, state, and local regulations, but go above and beyond implementing company safety measures that ensure their employees and customers experience the safest work and transportation conditions possible.

“We are proud to have received the IMG Safety Award. DATTCO has an uncompromising commitment to high standards when it comes to motorcoach safety, maintenance, customer service, driver training, equipment, operations and on-road support,” said Donald DeVivo, President of DATTCO.

DATTCO is a founding member of The International Motorcoach Group. Formed in 1998, IMG is an invitation-only organization made up of 56 independent, North American charter bus operators that share a commitment to excellence in customer service, safety, training and maintenance.

DATTCO has participated in ABA’s Bus Industry Safety Council since 1992. The mission of the Council is to raise safety levels in the intercity bus and motorcoach industry through collaborative efforts of professionals in a workshop and educational environment.

“We have a robust safety program at DATTCO, which includes asking all employees to take the ‘Safety Starts with Me’ pledge,” said Pamela Martinez, VP of human resources and risk nanagement. “Our employees are very committed to this pledge and put safety before everything else in their daily job duties. This is evidenced by our stellar safety record that has continued to improve since the pledge was put in place a few years ago. We thank our employees for helping us attain this recognition from IMG.”

Established in 1924, DATTCO, Inc. is a third-generation family-owned business headquartered in New Britain, Conn. From its early roots as operator of three school buses, DATTCO now services more than 40 school districts throughout Connecticut. Today, DATTCO is New England’s top bus dealer and leader in vehicle service, including fleet, collision, and trailer repair services. Its motorcoach division specializes in providing personal and group travel services, and operates several routes for the discounted intercity bus service, Megabus.  Additionally, Thermo King Northeast, a dealer of Thermo King products and parts, is a subsidiary of DATTCO.
