BOSTON, Mass. –-- Marcou Transportation Group, owner of Dav ElBostonCoach Chauffeured Transportation Network, announced Oct. 24 it acquired Boca Raton Transportation, Inc., which has served customers in Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties for nearly 40 years. Terms of the acquisition are not being disclosed.

Boca Raton Transportation specializes in airport transfers, golf charters, dine arounds, and other services. It is the exclusive transportation company for the Boca Raton Resort & Club, a Waldorf Astoria Resort. The company was founded in 1978 by P. Rodney Cunningham, who has owned and operated successful limousine, taxi, and airport shuttle companies in Delaware, Ohio, and South Florida.

“Dav El │BostonCoach is expanding its services in Florida with our new location in Boca Raton; this is a great addition to our locations in Miami and West Palm Beach,” said Scott Solombrino, President and CEO for Dav El / BostonCoach, in a press release. “Boca Raton Transportation has enjoyed a great reputation for nearly 40 years, and we will build on that tradition to make our brand stronger and enable us to continue providing the very best premium transportation services in South Florida.”

In an interview Oct. 26, Solombrino told LCT the Boca Raton acquisition will provide Dav El / BostonCoach with more than 100 company-owned luxury fleet vehicles in the South Florida region, handling clients from Jupiter Beach to Key West. The company also serves other high-end resorts in the coastal region, including the Trump Doral, Breakers, and Four Seasons.

"They have a stellar reputation as the dominant market player and one of the largest companies in the area," Solombrino said. "One of the benefits of mature companies is if they can last for long periods of time with multiple changes in the marketplace, then they are a safe bet to buy. Longevity plays a role in our expansion."

Dav El / BostonCoach sees the Florida market as a natural fit to its Boston-New York client market roots and epicenter. Many of its clients do business in South Florida often, take vacations there, and/or own second homes, Solombrino said. "Florida is a natural progression from our perspective. It's a great place to do business, and it's a friendly state that provides a good workforce."

Cunningham, who has worked with and known Solombrino for many years, will continue to manage the Boca Raton operation and grow the business in South Florida.

“Marcou Transportation Group is an organization with an innovative, forward-thinking philosophy that always exceeds client expectations, and we’re proud to become a part of it,” Cunningham said in the press release. “We’ve served our customers for nearly 40 years, and with this acquisition, we look forward to continued growth as we embrace the technologies that have helped make Marcou Transportation Group the industry leader.”

Dav El / BostonCoach runs about 2,200 luxury vehicles nationwide.
