CHICAGO—Windy City Limousine acquired Chicago Transportation Group (CTG), LLC March 28, which included the following companies under its management: Your Private Limousine (YPL), Chicago Northshore Limousine, and Deerbrook Limousine. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Windy City President George Jacobs said CTG will be absorbed under its brand name and company President Tracy Raimer will become a vice president of Windy City. Long-time friends who have worked together serving the Chicago metro region, Raimer said Jacobs approached her about an acquisition, noting “after 20 years in the business, it just made sense to merge our companies.” Jacobs added both companies bring something different to grow the business, as well as sharing similar company cultures and non-competing client books.
“Tracy is strong in the northern suburbs of Chicago, and we are dominant in the city, so combined we have more of a geographic reach plus a more diverse transportation fleet to offer all of our clients,” Jacobs said. Added Raimer, "CTG didn't have any buses, so now we have more than 100 to offer our clients for every transportation need.”
With the merger, CTG will add 50-plus vehicles to the Windy City fleet of about 260-plus vehicles bringing the total company fleet size to over 310. Windy City, which has 350 employees, will absorb CTG’s 60 employees, jumping the company staff total to over 400, and will work from the Windy City facility in Broadview, Ill.
Windy City Vice President Kathy Kahne said the acquisition, “brings two strong companies under one roof,” adding the transition has been “very smooth” because both companies operate on the same operating system making integration easier. “Our cultures and philosophies are similar, so blending the two teams is exciting.”
Added Jacobs, “It’s always scary when companies merge. People worry about what’s going to happen to them or being left behind, but I look at it as a family coming together.”
