TORRANCE, Calif. -- Plans for the 2014 LCT Leadership Summit ratcheted up this week with the announcements of a keynote speaker, a dine-around list of Miami-area restaurants featuring international cuisine, and an updated website with online registration for the May 18-20 conference at the Eden Roc Hotel in Miami Beach.

The Leadership Summit is the chauffeured transportation industry's only elite retreat-style event that limits attendance so as to spur close networking and sharing of business-to-business ideas. Summits are limited to 150 operators, vendors and guests.

Keynoter

The keynote speaker will be Gary Vaynerhcuk, a maven of modern-day marketing. He is a New York Times and Wall Street Journal best-selling author as well as a self-trained wine and social media expert. In high school, while working at his family owned liquor store, Gary started reading The Wine Spectator among other wine books and realized collecting wine offered an allure similar to his previous hobby of collecting baseball cards. With a newfound wealth of knowledge, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a clear recognition of the emergence of e-commerce in 1997, Gary launched Winelibrary.com and helped grow his family business from $3 million to $45 million by 2005. Although Gary does not consider himself to be a 'techie', in 2005, he began video blogging and established himself as a true social media trailblazer. Gaining nearly 1 million Twitter followers, Gary was included inBusinessWeek's list of the "top 20 people every entrepreneur should follow."

I have always been dissapointed by the position this Magazine takes. It reminds me of being in school and how the cool kids in this case the "elite" hung out in the hall ways as if they were better and the lessor or non "elite" worked away in class, How does LCT decide who are the "Elite" and why not allow anyone that wants to come to this event come. I always thought that we had something to gain from each other regardless of our size or how "Elite" we are…. CH
