Posted on February 7, 2014

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — For soccer fans (make that football for purists), a once-in-a-lifetime limousine road trip is scheduled  to depart New York City and end in São Paulo, Brazil for the June 12 inaugural match of the 2014 World Cup is being planned by Jose “Pepin” Alvardo of Alfredo’s Limousine, Bridgeport, Conn.

The 15-country, five-month tour is schedule to depart on April 1 and finish in August. The  route includes  the Eastern portion of the U.S., then  crossing over the border via Texas into Mexico and then through Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama (where it will be transported by boat to Venezuela) and then on to its final destination in Brazil. Following the World Cup, the limo will continue through South America to Uruguay, Argentina and Chile before heading north passing through Peru and completing the adventure in the geographic midpoint of the world — Ecuador.

Alvarado said he is looking for sponsors for the tour that will include logos of sponsoring companies on the limousine, in addition to being included on video clips, web and social media sites. Alvarado said he will write about the journey and is not sure yet how many passengers will go along for the “ride.”
