Asheville, N.C. — A North Carolina limousine driver is facing criminal charges in an August wreck that killed a 2005 Phillipsburg High School valedictorian and his wife.

Driver Rodney Koon, 46, of Asheville, has been charged with two counts of felony-grade death by motor vehicle and driving under the influence, authorities announced today. William Reid, 26, formerly of Lopatcong Township, and his 25-year-old wife, Jamie Soukup Reid, were killed Aug. 11 when the Lincoln Town Car in which they were traveling left Interstate 26 in Asheville, N.C., and struck a tree.

The Reids had lived in Philadelphia since their marriage in May. William Reid graduated at the top of his 2005 Phillipsburg High School class and still had strong ties to the Phillipsburg area, according to his obituary.
