GCLA Poker Tournament A Full House At SoCal Penske

TORRANCE, Calif. — On the night of Nov. 16, 65 limo industry card sharks sat down at the SoCal Penske Cadillac dealership to best themselves in the most recent Greater California Livery Association’s (GCLA) annual poker fundraiser night.

It was the third time that the GCLA hosted this event. Organized by Kevin Illingworth of Classique Limousine in Orange, Calif., this tournament saw the premiere of its latest location in SoCal Penske Dealership in Torrance, Calif. Dealership owner Phillip Hartz, has said he’d be happy to host the tournament again next year.

The GCLA netted $18,000 from the event, which included silent auctions on a number of sponsored items. Proceeds will be used to fund GCLA lobbying efforts in Sacramento and children’s charitable organizations. The tables as well offered sponsorship placements on the playing felt. About 80 GCLA members and supporters attended.

The final hand pitted Olga Spririna of Air One Limo against newcomer James Buck, with Buck coming out the winner of a new Vizio 50-inch TV.

“It was an awesome night,” Illingworth said. “I loved the location with Penske Cadillac and we’re looking forward to doing it again next year. The sponsors really came out and helped, and it worked out really well for Penske Cadillac. I myself bought a car off the show room floor and I talked to others who were interested in vehicles that were there as well.”

Some of the sponsors included: Chosen Payments, Transwest, Create A Card, Don Brown Bus, and Best Chauffeured Transportation.
