Minority Limo Group Offers Advice On Securing RFPs

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -- Members of the Minority Limousine Operators of America (MLOA) gathered Nov. 4. for a breakfast business and networking meeting. More than 50 members attended the event, which included a discussion explaining the opportunity for minority operators to participate in corporate and government transportation Request for Proposals (RFPs).


By becoming “certified,” minority operators can increase their business because there are RFPs that specifically include funds for work to be awarded to minority operators.

“When companies put out an RFP, they are looking for you to participate,” said Darrell Anderson, owner and president of Atlanta-based A-1 Limousine Service. “Responding to a RFPs is hard work. You also have to make sure you can handle the work, or will it be a strain in your business,” added Anderson, who also serves as the MLOA first vice president.

MLOA President Maurice Brewster, CEO of Mosaic Global Transportation in San Francisco, advised members to become involved in local organizations, minority development councils, and other groups to network and find out about RFPs targeting minority business owners.

“Companies are dying to do business with you, so find out what companies support minority business and sign-up with the procurement department,” he said.
