SAN FRANCISCO — Large scale executive transportation has become a growing business niche for Bauer’s Intelligent Transportation, which serves the San Francisco Bay Area region. To meet that demand, owner Gary Bauer just added 10 custom-built Grech Motors 43-ft. executive limo coaches to his 300-vehicle fleet.

Three were delivered last week and the rest on Tuesday, Sept. 24. The buses are on the Grech Motors F650 chassis, with special engine replacements and elongated cabin.

The deal evolved from a long working relationship between Bauer and Ed Grech, a preferred vehicle vendor. “I’ve known Ed since 24 years ago when I bought my first vehicle,” Bauer said. “I always liked his craftsmanship and the quality of his products, so when we needed some more units, he was the best fit for what we do. We have a lot of high-end clients [who] expect the state-of-the-art.”

The buses can carry up to 45 passengers who are typically professional clients being transported to-and-from work, sporting events, concerts, wine tours, and major events. Bauer attributes client growth in this sector to an active sales team.

Bauer’s IT already has been using Grech Motors buses, and has received positive feedback from customers. “People really appreciate them,” Bauer said. “The ride is nice, and the look and feel is nice. We deal with some of the most high-end clients in the world, who are very picky, and what they are looking for is what we provide.” The buses are customized with flat screen TVs, tables and trays for laptops, more power outlets, and high quality sound.

Another unique feature to the buses is they run on compressed natural gas (CNG), which fits the Bauer’s IT green fleet approach. The company runs 90% of its miles on eco-friendly vehicles.

Bauer’s IT runs most of its vehicles on three-year cycles, and motorocoaches on five-year cycles, before selling and replacing them with newer models. Bauer plans to sell off some older buses soon so he can buy another round of Grech Motors buses.

“We’ve been working this market for quite a while,” Bauer said. “And it’s always been busy, but we just have a lot of contracts we’re working with right now. And the Grech buses are built the way we want them.”
