Door Slammin’ Rage: Man Beats Chauffeur Over A Parking Spot

Posted on June 24, 2013

HOBOKEN, N.J. — Police arrested a 31-year-old Jersey City man last week and charged him with simple assault after they say he attacked a limousine chauffeur in a dispute over a parking spot.

According to a police report, the chauffeur pulled into a spot that another man, Keith Torres, had recently vacated. Torres then returned and demanded the spot back. Torres became violent when the chauffeur refused to leave the space, slamming the man’s car door on his leg three or four times and then punching him in the chest before leaving and entering a nearby deli, according to the report.

Torres told police he was a victim, too, because the chauffeur hit him when he opened his car door to talk to Torres. Both men then demanded medical attention, police said. Neither the name of the chauffeur nor the limo company was reported.
