The class action filed by Diva Limousine blames Uber's predatory pricing strategies for hurting legitimate chauffeured services.
The Limousine Associations of New Jersey will gather May 15 for its 10th Annual May Luncheon/Auction at the Wilshire Grand Hotel in West Orange, N.J. The event is crucial to raising the funds needed for the association to continue its work in protecting industry interests.
The keynote speaker for the event will be Raymond Martinez, the chief administrator of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission. The event will once again be hosted by Complete Fleet and co-sponsored by Don Brown Bus Sales and Chosen Payments.
During the meeting, the association will also provide updates on a range of activities concerning membership. Following are some highlights:
Chauffeur Training Program
For one, the association has made progress on the chauffeur training certification program that it is partnering with Burlington County College on. It has been agreed that LANJ and BCC will be in a public/private partnership to have an online chauffeur training course for the entire state
The college plans also to apply for a grant from the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development that would provide free tuition to potential drivers coming from the unemployment ranks. The BCC will make a presentation at the May 15 luncheon/auction to inform membership how they may participate in and benefit from trained, certified driver applicants.
Super Bowl Update
Members of the LANJ Board also recently met with The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey to discuss logistics for the Super Bowl, acting in an advisory role. The Port Authority is going to set up a special staging area at the airports for the deluge of Super Bowl arrivals it expects. Further updates are expected soon.
Members are encouraged to come early to the May 15 event to view the Vendor Expo & Auction Items prior to the luncheon, which begins at noon. The Board of Director's Meeting is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. General membership is welcome to attend.
If you would like to make an auction donation, please contact Complete Fleet's Bruce Cirlin at (908) 964-4400 or, if you prefer, fax a description of your donation (including the value) to him at (908) 964-1400.
