DUBLIN, Ireland — Devine’s Chauffeur Services, headquartered in Dublin, has been chosen as the exclusive transportation management service for the EU Presidency in Ireland, a contract that will run until June 2013. The firm secured the contract through various highly-competitive bids.

“In some cases, we have bid four times through RFPs at various levels to be appointed,” said Colin Devine, managing partner of Devine’s Chauffeur Services.

As official transportation provider for the EU Presidency in Ireland, Devine’s Chauffeur Service will handle all formal and informal ministerial meetings along with unofficial events. So far there are more than 200 events scheduled for the duration of the Presidency, and Devine’s will coordinate all movements in conjunction with each host government department.

Since Jan. 1, 2013, Ireland has held the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which rotates among the member states of the EU every six months. For the duration of the Presidency, Ireland’s government is responsible for holding meetings of the Council, determining its agendas, setting a work program and facilitating dialogue at Council meetings and with other EU institutions, which translates into a whole lot of transport movements for government officials.

“Each ministerial meeting has in excess of 250 trips and we have had multiple events on the same days,” Devine said. “We are seven weeks into the EU Presidency and we have successfully coordinated seven major ministerial meetings and numerous unofficial delegations. It’s been a massive challenge to ensure we maintain our extremely high standards and service performance, both on these events and to our existing customers, and I’m proud of our entire team for executing successfully. So far our busiest day involved 300 Presidency trips on top of our existing work.”

To transport the government groups, Devine’s has deployed MPVs, minibuses and motorcoaches. The company also is working with affiliates to help with overflow.

Devine’s Chauffeur Services expects a 15-20% revenue bump for the six-month period of the Presidency. “It’s been really great. Our involvement in the EU Presidency has helped us cement our position as the leading company in our local market,” Devine says.
