CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Rose Chauffeured Transportation, based in Charlotte, has added a new 57-passenger, ADA-accessible motorcoach to its fleet to better serve passengers with disabilities. The new coach is a Van Hool and brings the company’s motorcoach fleet to 14 buses. The company’s fleet consists of motorcoaches, luxury sedans and executive vans, and totals about 50 vehicles.

The new bus is equipped with a wheelchair lift that opens out of a side compartment when needed. Two rows of standard seats can be stowed away, revealing a platform equipped to secure the passenger and wheelchair safely.

“You can’t even tell [the wheelchair lift] is there until it’s in use,” Tom Holden, director of operations at Rose Chauffeured Transportation, said in a press release.

“The new ADA-accessible vehicle represents our commitment to providing all passengers with our high level of service and comfort. As our company continues to grow, it just makes sense to ensure we can accommodate everyone, regardless of disability status.”

Before buying the motorcoach, Rose would locate and rent an ADA-accessible vehicle for temporary use when requested by passengers with special needs. The new coach will allow Rose to more easily serve those clients and provide them with transportation in a branded vehicle equipped with all the standard Rose amenities, such as video screens and Wi-Fi connectivity.

The new ADA-accessible motorcoach already has proven to be a good business move — within days of the vehicle’s arrival, Rose received a reservation from Mountain Island Elementary School requesting an accessible motorcoach to accommodate one of their students.
