China Surpasses U.S. In BMW Sales

LONDON — The BBC reports that German luxury automaker BMW sold 425,528 vehicles in the first three months of the year, a rise of 11.2% from last year. BMW, Rolls-Royce and Mini all posted record sales.

The automaker sold 80,014 cars in China, 37% more than a year ago and will publish first quarter financial results on May 3. In 2011, BMW profits jumped by 51% to 4.9 billion euros.
