New York Companies Combine Into Stronger Regional Operation

BUFFALO, N.Y. — In a move to expand its business deeper into Western New York, Giorgio’s Limousine Service of Lancaster, N.Y. acquired Rochester-based Park Place Corporate Transportation Services on Oct. 1. Terms of the acquisition consisted of cash and partial assets, including the addition of Park Place’s fleet — increasing Giorgio’s fleet from 23 to 30 vehicles, among them, a Rolls Royce.

“It seem to be the right time to expand and build on our corporate and affiliate business,” said Kevin Barwell, Giorgio’s vice president and director of sales. “With Giorgio’s seeing a 15% growth the past three years and more of our corporate and charter business coming from the Rochester area, it made great sense.“

Park Place was owned and operated by industry veteran Scott Pizzo, who served as CEO of the company and also was honored in 2007 with the LCT Operator Of The Year Award. “I have known Scott for six years and he has always been a straight shooter with us,” Barwell said. “We have been working with each other during that time whenever we needed extra vehicles. He has also servied with me as the Rochester director of Limousine, Bus & Taxi Operators of Upstate New York (LBTOUNY), so we have become good friends during that time. This made a lot of sense for both of us.” Barwell is president of LBTONY.

Giorgio's was founded in 1986, and Park Place was founded in 1990.

Primary serving the Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Jamestown, and Southern Ontario regions, Giorgio’s expansion positions the company to be able to add corporate service in the Rochester metro area and increase the company’s service footprint to all of western New York state.

“Scott Pizzo has been an industry leader in Rochester and the limousine business for 25 years," Barwell said. "With all the new regulations, TNC issues, and getting close to retirement, he felt this was the time to sell his company (although, as he has said to me  a 100 times, a very difficult decision) and begin a new chapter in his life. Scott will be helping out as our regional sales and affiliate liaison in a part -time position.”

He added that the Park Place name will stay around for the foreseeable future, but all reservations and billing will go out of the Giorgio's location. “With a larger staff and with everything now electronic, it makes it much easier to easier to manage,” Barwell said.
