Volvo SUV Offers Nice Ride In All-Wheel-Drive

Posted on January 30, 2012

SUSSEX, England — Paul Gibson, editor of the U.K.’s TheChauffeur.com, tests the Volvo XC90 as the first in a series of reviews of four-wheel drive vehicles. He points out that the XC90 SUV is the lowest-priced vehicle on the list and offers “acres of room, flexibility and even a [sic] seven seats.”

He adds that the engine returns 35 mpg and the higher ride “gives chauffeurs a better view of the road ahead which is ideal for giving Mr. Client a smoother ride.” He calls the XC90 a great option for a company on a smaller budget than the 4x4 vehicle of choice, the Range Rover Vogue.

U.K.-based Tristar Worldwide recently added 35 XC90 SUVs to its fleet. “We took the decision to add [the CUVs and SUVs] to our fleet because we had some really severe weather in 2010 and 2009 with a lot of snow,” Tristar CEO Dean DeBeer told LCT. “This caused chaos on the roads and at our airports and we wanted to be able to service our clients if the same thing happens this year. We chose Volvo for their luxury, comfort, safety and reliability.”
