Acton Lincoln-Mercury To Change Franchise and Products

Posted on November 22, 2011

ACTON, Mass. — After 28 years on Route 2A in Acton, the Lincoln brand is being replaced by the four Chrysler brands in December, Acton Lincoln announced recently.

Dealership owner Coleman Hoyt and his 45 long term employees have elected to represent the full line of products from Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram.

“This terrific new package of brands will provide our loyal customers with products across the entire marketplace…from luxury cars to sports cars, minivans to pickup trucks…and with Jeep we will have the best line-up of SUVs available from any car company,” said Brian Loiseau, Acton’s sales manager. “We are really excited to be able to carry a full line of cars and trucks again.”

Ford Motor Co. terminated the Mercury brand in 2010, seriously affecting Acton Lincoln Mercury’s ability to serve its customer base with a full range of products. Lincoln sales have continued to struggle as the economic recovery has lagged. Because of Acton Lincoln Mercury’s positive reputation in the industry for being able to sell at volume without compromising customer satisfaction, Chrysler approached owner Coleman Hoyt about taking on its portfolio of brands — Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram.

“I was reluctant to do it at first because I’m a loyal person, and many years ago Ford gave me my first opportunity to own my own business,” Hoyt said. “But it became clear lately that Lincoln needed to reduce the number of its outlets. The wide range of vehicle offerings available from the four Chrysler franchises gave us the best opportunity for both our customers and employees.”

Acton Lincoln Mercury remains the world’s largest outlet for professional Lincoln limousine and livery products, through its subsidiary Acton Fleet Sales. In a related action, Ford Motor Company has authorized Hoyt to continue to operate Acton Fleet Sales in another facility in Acton, to perpetuate their national commercial Lincoln business.

Just like Acton Lincoln Mercury, Acton Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, will service all brands, all makes and all models at the same location on Rte 2A /196 Great Road in Acton.

“This will ensure that our thousands of existing customers will continue to get the same excellent service from the very same people they have trusted for years…regardless of the brand of car they drive,” said Chris Couture, Acton’s service manager.

“During the developments that led to this change in affiliation, employee retention was a critical focus for me,” Hoyt said. “Many of our terrific people are just entering the time in their careers when their kids’ college tuitions start to become a major issue for them. My wife and I wanted very much to be able to create the opportunity for our employees to continue with their plans and dreams. These new brands have made that possible.”
