Operator Adds Buses And Drivers To Serve State Employees

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Anchor Trailways & Tours has secured a five-year contract with the state of Tennessee through a competitive bid process to provide shuttle services for state employees who work in downtown Nashville.

The service operates four routes shuttling an estimated 2,000 state employees daily from 12 state parking lots throughout the city to the 10 state offices in the city’s center.

“We have assumed this service from the state of Tennessee, who operated it previously,” said Jared Stancil, Anchor Trailways & Tours vice president, in a press release. “Anchor was selected in part for the efficiencies of having the service run by people who are in the transportation business, as well as for the in-house services we provide, including 24-hour repair services and back-up drivers to assure reliable transportation for the state employees.”

The company bought seven new minibuses and hired eight new full-time employees to drive and manage the shuttle routes.

 “We are excited about this contract and the additional opportunities that will result from having our new fleet of mini-buses continuously operating in downtown Nashville each week,” said John Stancil, president of Anchor Trailways & Tours.

Anchor Trailways & Tours is a family-owned company that has operated in the Nashville area for more than 20 years.

As a member of Trailways Transportation System, the oldest national system of independent motorcoach companies, Anchor Trailways & Tours has access to a national backup support system. Anchor Trailways & Tours is certified by the Department of Defense — a higher level of safety certification that only 10% of motorcoach carriers qualify for — which certifies the company to carry military personnel.
