SUSSEX, England — The Chauffeur Car of the Year Awards are decided by chauffeurs and set out to discover the best vehicles to suit the U.K. chauffeured vehicle market in a number of categories.

This year, the crown for the” £50,000 to £100,000” category went to the Audi A8L TDi, which went up against the BMW 7-series (2010 Car of the Year), Lexus LS600hL and Jaguar XJL.

Paul Gibson, editor of TheChauffeur.com commented: “We had an incredible challenge on our hands this year deciding the winner of this category. The A8 simply offers chauffeurs the whole package — a great chauffeur program, massive amount of luggage and passenger space, and outstanding fuel economy.”

In the”£50,000 and under” category, BMW came out on top with its 5GT sedan. It was judged against the Audi A6, Jaguar XF and Mercedes-Benz E-Class, the latter which took the award in 2010.

“The BMW 5GT offers the rear-seat client almost the same comfort and space as the 7-Series, while offering the chauffeur incredible MPG figures and adequate space for luggage,” Gibson said. “This is what set the 5GT apart from its competitors in the category.’
