Avid Teen Reader Wins Limo Ride

Posted on August 10, 2011

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Books do take you places -- as Horn Lake Middle School student Jackie Hernandez can tell you. The rising eighth-grader is the winner of the Horn Lake Library Teen Limo contest.

More than 300 teens registered to participate in the program, and more than 200 completed the library's Summer Reading Program. Those who completed the program were eligible to compete for the grand prize of a limousine ride on the first day of school for themselves and five friends. The limousine ride is being provided courtesy of Walls Limousine Service.

Upon winning the special ride, Jackie, one of the Horn Lake Library's Summer Program volunteers, was treated to cheers from her fellow volunteers.
