LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- A scholarship from the National Limousine Association proved to be a business bonanza for one first-time attendee at last week's International LCT Show.

Ryan Williams, owner of Fivewest Chauffeur Corp. in Richton Park, Ill., was one of 10 recipients chosen for the NLA scholarship award out of 24 applicants internationally. Willams won the scholarship based on the programs criteria and his essay that explained why he wanted to attend the International LCT Show in Las Vegas; he wanted to learn about the limousine industry from a national and international standpoint.

And that's exactly what he did for three solid days, March 16-18. He learned as much as he could to improve his operations and increase his business. Williams attended several seminars geared toward expanding and developing your customer base. He plans to incorporate concepts he learned using social media to land new corporate business. He also attended a seminar given by hospitality speakers on customer service techniques, which will help him teach his chauffeurs how to be better front line customer service representatives.

During the show, Ryan purchased Limo Anywhere software and saved the $600 sign-up fee as a promotion for purchasing it onsite. He now runs his business using software instead of the old fashioned pen-and-paper method once common among industry old-timers.

And in an unusual step for a first-time scholarship attendee, Williams increased his fleet size 40%. He bought a 2015 Cadillac Escalade from Cadillac Professional Vehicles and a 2015 12-passenger Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Van from Grech Motors. These will be added to his five vehicle fleet that consists of three stretch limousines, a 37-passenger party bus, and a Mercedes-Benz S550 sedan.
