MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Driverless cars are coming, and sooner than you think. Tesla Motors and Google will have fully-autonomous vehicles available for public sale by 2020.

Speaker Zack Kanter predicts that this will signal the beginning of the end of personal car ownership. That also means on-demand, point-to-point travel will become extremely economical as large operators roll out massive driverless fleets.

Kanter’s insights will be among the leading topics at the 2015 LCT Leadership Summit May 17-19 at the Eden Roc Hotel in Miami Beach, Fla. The Summit is the chauffeured transportation industry’s elite, executive level conference and retreat designed to explore major trends and issues facing limousine operators.

Kanter will discuss the implications of this “transportation cloud” in a future-focused analysis as part of a relaxed conference format divided between topical sessions and recreational networking events and parties.

“I would love the opportunity to share visions of the future with the fleet owners,” Kanter said in an e-mail with LCT. “I think that this space will see tremendous innovation in the coming decade, and those that prepare for it will be well positioned to take advantage of the shift.”

Kanter is an entrepreneur, speaker, futurist, and writer who is founder and CEO of Suspension.com, an automotive ecommerce company, and Proforged, a brand of 2,300+ automotive parts distributed by U.S. Auto Parts Network, Amazon, Summit Racing, and others. Zack serves as a mentor and advisor to early-stage startups at the Boomtown and Mergelane accelerators in Boulder, Col. You can follow him on Twitter @ZackKanter or on his blog at ZackKanter.com.

The Leadership Summit, started in 1999, brings together about 150 operators and sponsors for concentrated networking and development of business relationships. Conferees gain valuable insights that help them run better businesses while relaxing in Miami Beach, a sub-tropical global destination with world-classing shopping, restaurants and night life.
