Florida Operators Plan Anti-TNC Political Rally

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—The Florida Limousine Association (FLA) plans to rally operators from around the state March 25 to attend a “For Hire Vehicle Day” in Tallahassee. Operators would meet with legislators to ensure illegal Transportation Network Companies follow the same regulations as other private transportation providers.

FLA President Rick Versace (A1A Airport & Limousine Boca Raton) said he hopes to have 80 operators swarm the capital to meet with their respective legislators to discuss TNCs operating illegally throughout the state.

The event is part of a plan to stop TNCs that are attempting to win over state legislators to legalize them rather than be subjected to limo and taxi rules set by individual cities and counties. Some local jurisdictions have issued TNCs cease and desist orders because they violate rules.

In fact, the FLA scored a victory Feb. 11 when the Broward County Commission voted unanimously to put the brakes on TNCs, mandating that Uber and Lyft obtain operating certificates the same as taxi and limousine companies. The certificates also require commercial insurance and driver background checks.

To finance the ongoing anti-TNC lobbying initiatives and public relations campaign, the FLA has established a Join The Fight website where operators can contribute money for the “war chest.”

    ¿ Where Was FLA till Now ? ¿ What Have You and Your Members Done for your Industry ? ¿ Why in MIA We have Antiques W/O licenses, PMC W/O Permits or Inspections and Some of Your Members (Illegally) Renting Or Leasing Their Limo Permits ? Don't Worry about TNC , Worry about Your OWN !
