KING OF PRUSSIA, PA.—The Philadelphia Regional Limousine Association (PRLA) Wednesday night agreed to step-up its fight against TNCs, especially local  grass-roots and state lobbying  of politicians to voice their concerns over illegal TNC activities.

During the association’s monthly meeting, attended by 36 members, Mike Barretto (Luxury Limousine, Philadelphia) encouraged members to voice their opposition about  TNCs to their local  legislators.

PRLA President Steve Rhoads (Rhoads Limousine, Douglassville) said the association will meet with state representatives  in Harrisburg, the state capital, to  “voice our concerns on TNCs.

Although TNCs are licensed to operate in Pennsylvania as part of a two-year trial period, they are banned from operating in Philadelphia. In fact, The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission on Thursday approved a two-year certification for Lyft to operate throughout the state as long as it complies with safety and insurance requirements. TNCs are not in Philadelphia, where the PUC does not regulate taxis or ride-share operators, according to an article in the Philadelphia Inquirer link.

In other business, Rhoads informed members that he was invited to be an honorary board member of the Limousine Associaiton of New Jersey (LANJ). “This is a great opportunity for myself to learn important information and bring it back to the PRLA. I was very impressed with their January meeting and the information presented. It is a very well-oiled machine,” said Rhoads
