Uber Chicago Implements New Driver Safety Protocols

Uber drivers will now undergo real-time inspections by "trained security specialists, including off-duty Chicago police officers," the ride-share app announced Wednesday.

Any safety issues discovered during those rides will be monitored, tracked and reported , according to Uber.

The monthly audits are part of the company's new safety program, unveiled after two Uber drivers were accused of sexually assaulting passengers in Chicago. Both drivers were charged in the separate incidents.
