CHARLOTTE, N.C. — ROSE CHAUFFEURED TRANSPORTATION of Charlotte, N.C. recently contributed to the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry’s “Groceries For Neighbors In Need” program. In 2010, LOAVES AND FISHES FOOD PANTRY provided groceries to 110,336 people in Mecklenburg County.

“Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry is a very viable charity that helps fight hunger in Charlotte,” said H.A. Thompson, President of Rose Chauffeured Transportation. Thompson and his team have set up collection boxes around their building for people to fill with canned and packaged goods to be sent to the food pantry.

“The lower economic class has been hurt by the recession and there is a need for basic necessities and food, especially among older people and those without jobs,” Thompson said. “The employees at Rose Chauffeured Transportation want to participate and help fight hunger in our city. They have been very generous with their food gifts.”

LOAVES AND FISHES FOOD PANTRY provides a week’s worth of nutritious groceries to individuals and families in a short-term crisis. Loaves and Fishes is a nonprofit, nondenominational organization, founded and operated by local religious congregations and community organizations. It grew out of an effort in 1975 at Holy Comforter Episcopal Church to respond to the growing hunger problem in Mecklenburg County, N.C., and continues to expand to meet that need. Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry accepts financial donations and groceries.
