The top rating reflects the quality of the company’s facilities, vehicles, safety practices and passenger amenities.

RICHMOND, VA — CAREY TRANSPORTATION underwent a rigorous inspection by the United States Department of Defense in October that covered the company’s facilities and equipment as well as safety and passenger comfort items.

The organization earned the coveted No. 1 “Outstanding” rating. This is the highest rating possible and has historically been achieved by only the top 5% of all inspected carriers (a No. 2 rating is considered “Excellent”). It is important to note that not all carriers even choose to submit to the Department of Defense inspections.

The official announcement from the Department of Defense reads in part: “Your rating of “1” indicates Carey Transportation is doing an outstanding job maintaining compliance with both the Military Bus Agreement and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulation. We commend your performance and look forward to continuing our partnership to provide the best service and safest transportation support for Department of Defense travelers.”

As part of its Department of Defense work, Carey Transportation does VIP runs for military officers, group transfers to airports, transportation between military bases, and taking new recruits from hotels to processing stations.

CAREY TRANSPORTATION is a full service transportation provider with facilities in the Virginia cities of Richmond, Williamsburg, and Norfolk. It is part of the Carey International network of service providers serving 480 cities in 75 countries. Carey Transportation has been in business for more than 30 years and is a division of James River Bus Lines.
