A GCLA analysis provides the latest data and insights on green livery vehicles now on the market. Its research can supply facts for green vehicle policies nationwide and inform operators.

LOS ANGELES — The GREATER CALIFORNIA LIVERY ASSOCIATIONhas taken steps to research and present as many facts as possible about green luxury livery vehicles so operators and regulators can assess how far such energy-saving vehicles are evolving.

Such information could play a crucial role in devising green vehicle policies at the local, state, and national level as energy demand and climate change awareness are prompting governments to tighten the rules on public and private for-hire ground transportation.

Nowhere has this become more apparent than at the San Francisco International Airport, where officials are working on a long-term policy to incentivize transportation providers to switch to greener vehicles.

The GCLA hosted three officials from the airport at its annual Summer Expo Tuesday evening, where a variety of green and gasoline livery vehicles, from sedans to mid-size buses, were on display. Representatives from Ford, Toyota, and Mercedes-Benz dealers talked about available vehicles.

Members of chauffeured transportation companies serving on the GCLA Sustainability Committee are working with SFO officials this year in a “workshop” environment to define what “commercial vehicles” options exist that meet green standards. SFO is also the lead airport for developing the Sustainability standards for all California airports. The next meeting between SFO officials and the GCLA committee is on Friday, Oct. 1 at SFO.
