Business Travel On The Rebound. . . .

The National Business Travel Association’s annual convention, being held this week in Houston, brings better news than its gathering in 2009.

HOUSTON — There are clear signs that the business-travel industry, which drives the fortunes of a large segment of the economy including airlines and hotels, is gradually coming back.

Attendance at the 42nd annual International Convention & Exposition in Houston is about 6,000 this year, said Caleb Tiller, a spokesman for the trade group, which represents corporate travel buyers and suppliers like airlines. That makes it second only to the 2008 convention in Los Angeles, held on the cusp of the collapse in travel.
