Vinyl wrapping the back of his buses with a photo of the interior has opened up an Ontario operator’s customer base — and he didn’t spend a dime.

OAKVILLE, Ontario — Operator Mike Fabiano wants to make sure everyone can look inside his limo buses.

The owner of WHITE SHADOW LIMO SERVICE in Oakville, Ontario had a vinyl wrap installer take a photo of the interior of a limo bus and wrap the entire back of the bus with the photo, including the company’s name and phone number.

The installer then wrapped the backs of Fabiano’s other two buses as well, all for free.

“When you’re driving the bus and you’re passing somebody, it looks like they’re looking inside the bus,” Fabiano said.

This not only becomes a mobile billboard, but it showcases the limo buses to the wider public, many of whom don’t know about them, Fabiano says. From the outside, a limousine bus can be mistaken for a regular passenger bus. By displaying its interior, potential clients get panoramic peek inside.

The promotion has led to more inquiries and bookings. Fabiano recommends the wraps as an effective marketing tool. “I get many calls when the buses are enroute somewhere. They ask you questions [about the bus].”

Since wraps can get costly, with pricing usually based on square footage, how did Fabiano get the wraps for free? He rented out his limo bus to Pepsi for five weeks for their promotional tour, and allowed them to vinyl-wrap it for the occasion. Because Fabiano gave the installer, a contractor, a couple of extra days to work on the bus free of charge, he asked for the favor in return. That’s called smart bartering.

Great for advertising purposes when the vehicle is empty, but as a luxury service provider my clients expect to ride in something other than a mobile billboard.
