EmpireCLS Leaves Greener Tracks

Clients attuned to environmental responsibility can now track their carbon footprints live with a new gadget.

SEACAUCUS, N.J. — Business travelers and their companies now have access to a new tool in gauging and reducing their carbon footprints whenever using EMPIRECLS WORLDWIDE CHAUFFEURED SERVICES.

The customized trip receipts enable clients to accurately track and report their surface transportation-generated carbon. This new service fills a critical “data gap” for companies that want to maintain a credible environmental sustainability program by providing precise carbon emissions readings related to chauffeured transportation.

“While companies with advanced carbon-reduction travel programs have been tracking their environmental impact with regards to air transportation, hotels, and meetings with a fair degree of success, it has been extremely difficult to compile the same type of data for the chauffeured transportation sector — until now,” said David Seelinger, Chairman and CEO for EmpireCLS, in a statement.

This data now is audited through EmpireCLS’s sustainability program, Green Ride Global, and compiled in a detailed report, Seelinger said. This document provides a comprehensive analysis of distance traveled, fuel consumed (gasoline or diesel), overall fuel efficiency (miles per gallon), green house gas emissions (metric tons CO2e), and green house gas emissions intensity (metric tons CO2e/100). The report further tracks carbon generation by vehicle category (sedan, SUV, van, or bus).

The document is a thorough tracking tool, which over the course of a year, can clearly show how well the strategic use of a chauffeured transportation fleet is reducing carbon emissions. It is especially useful in tracking carbon management from year to year, as companies seek to justify the effectiveness of their sustainability programs.

The customized trip receipts are available to EmpireCLS clients at no additional charge.

EmpireCLS Worldwide Chauffeured Services uses carbon tracking procedures that follow emissions factors used by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). EmpireCLS’s environmental measurements follow the ISO 14064 GHG Measurement Standards, and the principles and protocols of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and the World Resources Institute (WRI). EmpireCLS is also a partner of the US EPA Climate Leaders Program.
