Operators Augustine and Robert Xavier have succeeded financially despite the strong headwinds of a recession.

NEW YORK CITY — Legend Limousines, Inc. was awarded the Veteran Small Business Champion of the Year Award for New York on April 23 during a ceremony at the Con Edison building.

The Small Business Administration acknowledged Legend for its growth during an economic down-turn while increasing sales and consolidating debt. Legend’s revenues gained slightly in 2009, while most other operators saw declines of 20-40%.

Legend’s founder, Augustine Xavier, a veteran of the U.S. Army, accepted the award.

In 2009, LEGEND LIMOUSINES expanded its fleet by adding a New Bentley Continental Flying Spur and a 2010 40-passenger limo bus for its retail clients, as well as luxury hybrid sedans and Executive L Series Town Cars for corporate and airport transportation.

The 13-vehicle Legend fleet now includes eight and 10-passenger Lincoln limousines in white and black, 10-passenger white Cadillac DTS limousines, and 14- and 20-passenger SUVs. Since the summer of 2003, Legend Limousines, Inc. has been serving Long Island and New York City clients. Through its membership with the Long Island Limousine Association, Legend provides and gives out a substantial amount of farm-out work as well.
