DALLAS — The NBA All-Star Game on Feb. 14 drew a record crowd of 108,713 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas which was the largest crowd ever at a basketball game and the attendance was more than the six previous NBA All-Star games combined.
The game and all the NBA related events leading up to the game provided local limousine operators with a rare dry run opportunity for the Super Bowl, which will be held in Dallas next year.
Deana Krasny, President and CEO of E3 WORLDWIDE TRANSPORTATION, said that the amount of business generated by the NBA was almost overwhelming.
“With us being one of the three providers chosen by the NBA for this event, we really wanted to make sure everything goes well for all the VIP guests, team owners, players and their families,” Krasny said. “Unfortunately, we couldn’t control a record snowfall of more than a foot two days before the game, which cancelled many flights and some of the NBA related events. With the help of the NBA, some of our shuttle chauffeurs were put up in the same hotel where players were staying to ensure that we had a continuous transportation coverage with all the snow and ice we had on the roads, which avoided the need for the vehicles to travel back to the garage after every shift.”
E3 Worldwide also rented a small fleet of black Suburbans and Escalades to help with a huge demand for SUVs and hired additional chauffeurs.
“We spoke to the NBA officials during and after the game and we haven’t heard any negative comments at all about the event that was absent from North Texas for 24 years,” Krasny said. “The only comment we did hear repeatedly was that NBA is considering putting Dallas in its rotation of the cities hosting the event on regular basis.”
