Westwood Lincoln Mercury Merges With Other Dealers

PARAMUS, N.J. — Westwood Lincoln Mercury of Emerson, N.J., a leading seller of chauffeured transportation vehicles, recently merged with All American Ford of Paramus, N.J. and Able Ford in Old Bridge, N.J.

Altogether, the dealerships will offer more than 75 Ford-Lincoln-Mercury vehicle service bays in northern New Jersey, becoming the largest Ford-Lincoln-Mercury dealership network in the Northeast region.

The combined dealership of Westwood and All American Ford will now be located at 375 Route 17 in South Paramus. The Able Ford location, at 3698 Route 9 South, will remain and operate under the All-American name. There is also an All-American Ford location in Hackensack, N.J. A fourth dealership, Great American Chevrolet in Hackensack, N.J., will join the dealership network under its original name.

"It was a natural for Ford, Lincoln, Mercury to get together," said Edward Vergopia, former president of Westwood and co-owner/dealer of the new collaboration, in an interview with LCT. "This is something we had been wanting to act on and it was just a matter of waiting for the right deal. Getting a highway location was something I had wanted to do for years."

Financial terms of the deal, effective July 1, were not disclosed. All employees at the dealerships were offered jobs. Vergopia stressed that he is a business partner in the All-American location in Paramus only. The other dealerships are part of the All-American network but owned by other partners.

Ed Vergopia's father, Sal Vergopia, owned Westwood and has been in the industry for 40 years. The Westwood team will be available at the Paramus location to ensure a smooth transition.

“We can now better serve [customers] with Ford Lincoln Mercury sales, service, and warranty at one convenient location,” Edward Vergopia said. "As part of the All American family, we also now have our own loaner vehicles, courtesy shuttles, and flatbeds to facilitate any of your service needs," he said in a statement.

"We are now on the highway and have double the amount of vehicle types to offer," Vergopia added. "We have Chevrolet as well for sales and service of all GM products including Cadillac."

The Vergopias also own Empire Coachworks International of East Brunswick, N.J., which manufactures limousines, buses, and private vehicles. Its latest focus has been on compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicle conversions for the chauffeured transportation industry and other fleet-based businesses. It had been selling the vehicles exclusively under the LimoGreen name, but recently renamed its division Clean Vehicle Solutions (CVS). The LimoGreen label is still marketed to the chauffeured transportation industry as part of CVS.

"We needed a broader name for telecommunications and utility clients," Vergopia said. "CVS is a more global name that includes larger commercial fleets."
