BIZ TRAVEL SNAPSHOT: How Far Off?

DOMESTIC TRAVEL PIE:

$641 billion in 2007 spending by U.S. residents.

BUSINESS TRAVEL PORTION:

$212 billion in 2007 spending.

PREMIUM AIRLINE TRAFFIC:

Global sales of high-end seats fell 22% in April, compared with same month in 2008.

COACH SALES:

Number of travelers on coach tickets rose 0.3% in April, compared with same month in 2008.

HOTEL SALES:

Revenue per available room — a key metric — was down 18.7% for 2009, as of May 31.

CORPORATE SPENDING:

87% of execs surveyed in study say their companies to spend less on travel this year.

SECOND-QUARTER EARNINGS:

Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters expect five major U.S. carriers to post adjusted losses.
