NEW YORK — The Luxury Based Operators Association of New York City (LBOA) said today it will join New City Taxi and Limousine Commissioner Matthew Daus in support of the proposed TLC For-Hire Vehicle Industry Accountability Rules package.

Mike Rose, first vice president of LBOA, said the endorsement came after several meetings and concessions by both organizations. LBOA began its efforts several weeks ago by organizing and conducting a meeting of the six associations in the tri-state area that will be affected by these regulations.

“We met with the Commissioner’s staff and worked to find equitable ground,” Rose said. “Through the diligence and hard work of our President Sergio Sanchez and our Secretary Guy Palumbo, the TLC made a number of the changes which we had requested and they were able to clarify why others were put into place. We believe that we will have the opportunity to work closer in the development of these types of regulations in the future as a result of our meetings and the spirit of cooperation between the Commissioner’s Office and our industry representatives. We are also hopeful that we will be able to introduce changes and corrections once the rules are in place.”
