TORRANCE, Calif. — Add LCT Magazine’s annual Leadership Summit to the growing list of business conference cancellations this year.

The LCT Leadership Summit, planned for May 3-5 at the South Beach Ritz-Carlton in Miami Beach, Fla. has been officially postponed until 2010, LCT Publisher Sara Eastwood-McLean announced this week. The conference would have been LCT’s ninth Leadership Summit since 2000.

Although the Summit drew plenty of operator interest this year, 60% of the supplier-based sponsorship support dried up this year due to the recession.

“We considered a more watered down program in an effort to bring key people together but decided that was not a good idea,” Eastwood-McLean said. “The integrity and uniqueness of the LCT Leadership Summit, which is modeled after the YPO programs, is the event’s real value. Out of respect to everyone’s pocket books, we believe taking a year off is best.”

Eastwood-McLean said the LCT event staff and editors now can fully focus on building up the LCT Eastern Conference, Oct. 7-8, at the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut.

“The program is the best we have ever created,” she said. The event will boast many creative “firsts,” including Speed Networking (akin to Speed Dating), a special session aimed exclusively at East Coast DOT and regulatory issues, and a special program for Canadian operators.

LCT is solidly committed to this two-day conference and trade show, now headed to its fifth year as the leading industry event along the East Coast. For more information, go to

The LCT Leadership Summit, limited to 100 participants, is known throughout the industry for its intimate networking, social, recreational, and educational agenda that helps cultivate the brightest and most innovative minds in the industry. LCT already anticipates the 2010 Leadership Summit — the first for a new decade and just in time for an expected economic upswing.
