Charlotte, N.C. Operators Form New Association

CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte Regional Limousine Association (CRLA) was founded last month by Jeff Canady, owner/operator of CLT Express Livery.

The growth of the chauffeured transportation industry in the Charlotte region along with increasing rules, ordinances, and regulations set up by the Charlotte-Douglass Airport authority and the city of Charlotte passenger vehicle for hire department (PVH) led operators to form the group.

The CRLA wants all legal companies in the area to join the association in order to voice the industry’s concerns in unity. The initial meeting took place on Dec. 17, 2008.

Association members elected the following officers in January:

President: Tom Holden, Rose Chauffeured Transportation

Vice President: Shawn Glasgow, Peak Limousine

Treasurer: Cheryl Hosseini, Connections Transportation, Inc.

Secretary: Laura Canady, CLT Express Livery

The CRLA will focus at first to address the airport and the city on the following topics:

1) Airport parking issues; 2) Inner-city and metro parking issues; 3) The benefits of being a legal operator. What exactly are they? 4) Are the penalties severe enough for illegal operators? 5) Addressing Charlotte City Council with a unified voice; 6) Association growth.
