EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. — The Discovery Channel has chosen Empire Coachworks International to be featured on two episodes of a new program to be launched in September called “The World’s Most Expensive Rides.”

Producers from the show filmed at Empire’s central New Jersey factory last week. Laura Flannery, sales coordinator for Empire Coachworks initiated the dialogue with Discovery Channel while making cold calls to potential leads for new limousines and custom vehicles.

“I saw the name of one of the companies and thought ‘that sounds interesting’,” she explained. “I picked up the phone and called them. I got lucky, and before I knew it, we were making arrangements to have them come to our factory and shoot.”

Although the process sounds simple, a monumental effort was made by the entire Empire staff to pull off the taping in short order. “The photographer stood in the back of a pick up truck following a stretch Hummer as it was driving around the country roads of New Jersey in sub-freezing temperatures,” Flannery said. “He did a great job getting the footage.”

In addition to the exterior shots, Empire personnel were interviewed and the production facility was filmed manufacturing limousines.

LCT will update the programming in Driving Force when air dates become available.
