BOSTON - Boston Police warned about a series of sexual and indecent assaults allegedly committed by taxi, livery, and gypsy cab drivers.
Police said the incidents occurred between October 4 and December 7, but do not believe any of the incidents are connected. On October 4, a woman reported that she was assaulted inside a cab in the area of Atlantic Avenue just before midnight. The suspect was described as a Middle Eastern male, in his 30s, about 5 feet 8 inches and 170 pounds. A few days later on October 11, a woman said that she hailed an unknown limousine in the area of Park Plaza and was assaulted by the limo driver around 2 a.m. He was described as a tan male with an accent and about 5 feet 8 inches tall.
On October 24, a woman reported that she was sexually assaulted by a taxi driver in the area of Uphams Corner around 3 a.m. The victim described her attacker as a Haitian black male, 5 feet 8 inches tall and about 180 pounds.
On November 1, a woman reported that she was assaulted after hailing a livery driver in the area of Park Plaza. She told police that she woke up in the back seat of a town car and her clothes were in disarray.
Most recently, on December 7, a woman said she was picked up by an off-duty taxi driver operating his own vehicle near Hemenway Street. She said the driver took her to Saugus and sexually assaulted her. The suspect was arrested and charged with aggravated tape, kidnapping and having an unregistered/uninsured motor vehicle.
Police said to only accept rides from a Boston Licensed Taxi. They all say "BOSTON LIC. TAXI" on both rear fenders.
