ROSWELL, Ga. – Roswell police are investigating an early Sunday morning head-on collision that left two people dead and three others injured.

The accident occurred at 2:38 a.m. when a 1992 Acura Integra traveling westbound on Ga. 92 with its lights off collided in the center lane with a eastbound 2004 Lincoln Limousine, police said. The collision occurred just east of Mansell Road.

The male driver and a male passenger in the Acura were pronounced dead at the scene.

They were identified Monday as Julio Cesar Cate, age unknown, of Marietta, and a passenger, Jairo Efrain Curruchich, 24, of Marietta.

Two other male passengers survived and were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and North Fulton Regional Hospital.

Alfonso Cate, 32, and Jaime Cutzalson, whose age was not available, remained hospitalized Sunday evening, police said. All four occupants of the Acura were from Canton.

The limousine driver, Darrell Gray of Marietta, was the sole occupant of the vehicle. He sustained minor injuries and was taken to Grady, where he was treated and released, authorities said.

Police spokesman Lt. James McGee said no charges have been filed yet, but there was a “strong odor of an alcoholic beverage” coming from the Acura.
