CHICAGO — Virgin Atlantic Airways Ltd. recently announced that Windy City Limousine was given its Chicago ground luxury transportation contract. The airline, which ceased operations in Chicago in 2001, is scheduled to restart flights in the city on April 23.

Nearly every company in the Chicago area vied for the account, but ultimately the nod went to Windy City Limousine. “I was blown away by the complexity and thoroughness of the bid process,” said Windy City President George Jacobs. “I have never seen one so intense.”

The contract promises to provide more than $1 million annually before new flights are added to the current schedule. “I hope that newer operators see this and realize they can do the same thing,” Jacobs said. “We were competing with a large group of great companies.”
