NEW YORK CITY — N.Y. Governor George Pataki has signed a reciprocity bill designed to resolve border disputes and set a legal structure for regulating the state’s livery industry.

The new law is specifically designated for cities and counties with a population of at least one million. In addition, it guarantees the right of New York City licensed for-hire vehicles to pick-up and drop-off passengers in Nassau and Westchester Counties without facing restrictions. The law, which most in the industry view as beneficial, will become active this fall.
