PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Eric Weiner was a sophomore at Johnson & Wales University in 1990. That is when he became an entrepreneur and started his limousine service. Today, All Occasion Transportation serves corporate and executive clients in 450 cities nationwide.

Weiner's entrepreneurial spirit was honored while in college. He earned spending money delivering pizza and one day drove past a used car lot and saw a 1996 white six-passenger limousine. He scraped together $16,000 to buy the limo and stored it in a rented garage in East Greenwich. Weiner then posted flyers around campus and in Downtown Providence parking lots to market his new business.

At first, Eric booked weekend jobs while in school, and was one of the first persons on the college campus to own a cell phone. Eric wanted to have an advantage over the competition. By purchasing a cell phone, he would be readily available in the event a customer called.

Weiner's business reached a new level in February 1992 when he received a phone call from an executive assistant at Cookson America. The company was looking for a new limousine service. Weiner received the contract and the next day he purchased his second auto, a Lincoln Town Car. Cookson America is still a client.

After his college graduation, Eric purchased a second Town Car, and All Occasion Transportation began to grow.

In 1999, Weiner opened a sales and administration office in downtown Providence and stored his vehicles in garages in Providence and Cranston.

By 2003, Eric decided to combine the sales and administration operation and vehicle storage under one roof. He located his current home in Pawtucket and received an SBA guaranteed loan through the Washington Trust Company to purchase the property. Weiner said he could not have purchased his expanded facility without the assistance from SBA.

Weiner and his team of professionals have continued to build a successful business through a strong commitment to providing the highest level of customer service. All Occasion Transportation specializes in airport transfers, corporate travel, and special occasions. Service is offered in more than 600 cities nationwide with a fleet of late-model sedans, limousines, luxury SUVs, executive vans, mini-coaches, and motor coaches.

Since the beginning, when he purchased the cell phone, Weiner has continued to use the latest technology to provide the ultimate in customer service. All company vehicles are equipped with state-of-the-art global positioning systems and DriveCam technology. Each chauffeur carries a Blackberry personal digital assistant that provides the ability to communicate with dispatch and monitor flight arrival and departure information.

All Occasion Transportation was the first limousine service in Rhode Island to develop a website. Today, the company's secure online system makes it easy for clients to make reservations, access account information, add new reservations, view and modify existing reservations, and access completed itineraries. The company also has developed a list of more than 10,000 email addresses of clients and prospective clients.

Weiner wants to stay in touch with executive assistants as they move from company to company. Eric attributes the success of his company to the use of emerging technology.

All Occasion Transportation has partnered with similar top-quality transportation companies to ensure that they receive uninterrupted chauffeured service. This is true no matter where they travel, not only in the U.S., but around the world.

In order to develop the most effective marketing plans, Weiner is constantly monitoring local trends and examines which industries are traveling and what mode of transportation they use.

Eric is already looking for a larger facility and once again, he will turn to the SBA and Washington Trust for the financial resource he will need to keep All Occasion Transportation among the best limousine companies in America.
