Veteran British actor John Cleese (“A Fish Called Wanda”) is relishing being alive after his chauffeur fell asleep just prior to Christmas and narrowly avoided a fatal crash "by about a second.”

The former Monty Python comedian, 65, is reportedly enjoying life to the fullest after his sleeping driver almost crashed into another vehicle at high speed.

Cleese didn’t say where the incident happened, but did comment, "I nearly died the other day. I was in a car traveling at 75 or 80 miles per hour and I realized my driver had fallen asleep. So I shouted at him and I think we avoided being killed by about a second.”

He added, “It just shows that life's all a little more fragile than you think."
